New Jacob's Cracker Crisps | First Impression

I signed up to a marketing company called BzzAgent a while back, who are one of the leading marketing companies, sending out products to a number of people per product to let people test them out and hopefully, if they like them, share this with their friends and spread the word about these new products, and the first one I have to try is the new Cracker Crisps by Jacob's.


I think this is a really great idea, as word of mouth is one of the most powerful advertising agents we have and can make or break a product for a large group of people. BzzAgent were kind enough to send me three flavours of Jacob's Cracker Crisps, the new snack from the famous cracker brand, seeing them branch out into a new market of lunch time foods, and I couldn't wait to try these new and exciting flavours and textures after being such a lover of Jacob's crackers anyway.


I am a massive fan of Thai sweet chilli flavoured...well...anything really - nuts, crisps, chicken, salmon - you name it! So, I was very excited to try Jacob's Cracker Crisps in Thai Sweet Chilli flavour. While the flavour tasted nice, I was a little disappointed that it wasn't as strong a flavour as I would have liked, the classic flavour you get from sweet chilli sauce or sweet chilli flavoured crisps. I also found the texture a little strange, as they were like a cross between crisps and crackers, though quite thick, giving them a more soft biscuit texture, which I found weird combine with a savoury flavour. I was quite disappointed with this product, although I could quite happily eat a bag for a snack or as part of my lunch, as long as I had a drink as the texture also made them feel quite dry.

I also tried the two other flavours I was sent, Salt & Vinegar, and Sour Cream & Chive - both flavours that I love in crisps, but I was once again disappointed by a lack of flavour and a weird biscuity dry texture. 


I kind of feel like Jacob's tried so hard to keep their cracker routes true that they came up with something that needs, like with their other products, some form of dip or topping to stop them being like typical dry cracker. I tried the sour cream and chive flavour with some salsa dip, which was much better, but I wouldn't feel like I could just happily grab a bag and feel satisfied with the flavour and texture as they are.
